Asheville, Greenville Amazing Lash Studio Owner Caitlin Clampitt Talks Entrepreneurship, Lashes, and Giving Back to Her Community Written by Rosa Linda Fallon

A mom, entrepreneur, and lash enthusiast, Amazing Lash Studio (Asheville and Greenville) owner Caitlin Clampitt keeps herself busy, to say the least. In the midst of it all, helping women keep their lashes lifted, their brows shaped, and sending them off feeling nothing but amazing after leaving her studio is a top priority. “I am really passionate about easy, quick fixes that can be really transformative,” Clampitt says, referring to Amazing Lash Studio’s concentration on quick, convenient beauty transformations that leave you looking and feeling great.

As a mom, Clampitt admits that her own focus on beauty and self-care definitely dropped to the bottom of her list of priorities after having children, but that did not stop her from sharing her love of all things beauty with other women by opening her very own Amazing Lash Studio.

“The whole brand is focused on beauty, wellness, all the things that sometimes fall by the wayside,” Clampitt explains of the franchise that she independently owns. “We focus on offering that affordable and accessible luxury to everyone so they can treat themselves and give them that luxury experience that they are so deserving of.”

Before opening up her first Amazing Lash Studio location in Greenville, South Carolina, Clampitt had been a loyal Amazing Lash Studio client for years, leading to her interest in opening her own shop. Today, she owns three studios – two in South Carolina and one in Asheville, North Carolina in Biltmore Village. There are over 270 Amazing Lash Studio locations across the country, making it a convenient one-stop beauty destination for the girl on the go who has a studio membership. The lash extensions are vegan, non-toxic products, and all of the studio's stylists are licensed estheticians. Clampitt’s staff are also required to undergo a certification program followed by additional training to ensure individual lash application skills.

While this may be Clampitt’s first venture into the beauty industry, it certainly is not her first time around in the business management and leadership sectors. Clampitt has a background in business and human resources, having lived and worked in Washington, D.C. for four years as a corporate recruiter for a start-up company. As the company grew, Clampitt’s role expanded, and she became the Director of Operations. During the same time, Clampitt met her husband, a Navy officer who had just returned from Afghanistan weeks prior. He accepted a position at a crisis public relations firm, but the job became all-consuming, eating away at personal and family time.

So, they decided to combine their business development and public relations skills to start their own consulting business. Flash forward, Clampitt and her husband are going into their 12th year running The District Communications Group (DCG Communications), a public relations firm based out of Washington, D.C. Their firm helps federal government agencies relay their messages to the public with a focus on giving back to the veteran community, something both Clampitt and her husband are passionate about.

Giving back to the veteran community is also a major focus of Clampitt’s Amazing Lash Studio endeavor. “We’ve done a lot of promotions within the veteran community,” Clampitt says. Recently, the studio ran a promotion during the month of November where veterans and their spouses enjoyed 50% off all lash and brow services. “I just want to roll out the red carpet for female veterans and veteran spouses, so we are always offering discounts and promotions for them.”

Clampitt is also always on the lookout for new, creative ways to dig in deep and give back to the community as a whole. “Really being able to give back and connect to the community is truly why I got into this,” she admits, fervidly. “Right now, my team and I are reaching out to all the principals and superintendents at the high schools in Greenville County to find a few exemplary, hard-working, or dedicated young ladies to have them come to the studio and let us really glam them up for prom this year with free lashes!”

Amazing Lash Studio recently added more services to their menu over the last couple of years. The studio offers a wide array of services including lash lifts, lash extensions, full facial waxing, brow tinting, and brow lamination. During a first appointment at the studio, customers are provided their own private room with a cozy blanket (for a “lash nap”) and a personal stylist who will dedicate two full hours. The customer will receive a 10-15 minute consultation where they can talk about their lifestyle, routines, and what kind of look they are going for. Clampitt guarantees customers will leave the studio with the look they were hoping for, as it is customized to their individual needs. Before coming in for an appointment, they can also download the Amazing Lash Studio app and use the Glam Cam function to virtually try on different lash and brow looks so they know exactly what they want before coming in.

At the end of the day, the main focus of Amazing Lash Studio is the guest experience. “We have had guests come in and share their personal stories, and it is just so heartwarming to see people who are cancer survivors or who have unique life stories,” she says. “We recently had a mother-daughter duo come in where the daughter wanted several services, and the mom didn’t have enough money to pay for her own, and I looked at her and said, ‘Mom, I got you.’ It’s our job to love on them!”

To become even more involved with her local community, Clampitt’s goal in the year ahead is to develop partnerships with charitable organizations serving the local markets in which her studios operate. She is also working on creating a scholarship program with A-B Tech to sponsor a student interested in breaking into the beauty industry. As for what’s next, Clampitt has plans to open three more studio locations. For now, she is taking a much-needed break, so you might find her at one of her studios taking the occasional “lash nap” while getting glammed up for her next endeavor.
